I hope you feel as good about our 1st day back as I do!
I have to give all the thanks to my staff! Each teacher and staff member came with smiles, ready for the day! Thank you families for sending your children. Thank you students for coming back ready because we are here for each of you!
As we recited this morning: EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF THE GREATNESS IN ME! I saw lots of great things today, including a surprise visit from Mayor Sharon Weston Broome and Superintendent Narcisse during dismissal time!
Click HERE for a video from me explaining what to look for with 1st day papers and the new tags we are using for dismissal. Many thanks, Principal St. Julien

Hope you are getting in some summer fun! Get ready for our new school year that is approaching soon!
Dear Dufrocq Families,
Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year! Summer has moved quickly but I hope you all are enjoying this time away. I thank you all for the support shown in my first year as The Dufrocq School’s principal. I know that we will continue to do great things together as a school family.
I look forward to being able to engage and interact with you all in person more often and in varied ways. To begin the year, we will have Meet and Greet on Friday, August 5th. This is a time to come and get the student’s class/teacher assignments, meet the teachers, confirm transportation and modes of dismissal, bring supplies, sign up for before or aftercare, and ask any questions you may have for the school year. See the Meet and Greet flyer below for more information and the time to come according to your child’s grade level.
Next, we have our district’s Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 6th at the River Center 11:00-2:00 p.m. Come check out all the fun but most importantly our Dufrocq school’s table!
The first day of school for students in grades Kindergarten through 5th is Monday, August 8th. The earliest time that students can arrive on campus is 8:00am. Morning and Afterschool care begins on Monday, August 15th. Applications and more information will be available at Meet and Greet. Pre-Kindergarten students will have staggered days to report to school. The Pre-K teachers will contact you about Pre-K orientation and the day your child is to report to school on.
Arrival and Dismissal: The Carpool line in the morning and afternoon will be received from the back of the school on S. 20th Street. At 8:30 the duty teachers will move inside. If you do not see a staff member at back carpool line you must bring the student to enter at the front of the school. Walkers will enter in the morning at the front doors of the school. Walkers will dismiss at the side door by steps at front of the school. Bus riders will enter and dismiss to and from their bus at the front of the school. For safety reasons, parents/guardians will not be able to walk students in the building to class but there will be teachers or paraprofessionals on duty to escort all students to their class. Students will be tagged with their mode of dismissal. Please keep the dismissal tag on the student’s backpack at all times. Do not take it off. If the student’s backpack is lost or replaced please try to save the tag and let the teacher know. See more information in the Student and Family Handbook.
Our Open House will be Tuesday, August 30th, 5:00-6:30pm. We will begin in the auditorium with a general assembly and then break out to classrooms. Teachers will share beginning of the year information, grade level academic and classroom expectations, and other resources.
Do Now’s: Actionable things you can do now parents/guardians is to consider signing up for the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) and the Centennial Celebration Planning Committee. The Dufrocq school will be 100 years old in the 2023-2024 school year!!! Sign Up Here!
In reflecting on last school year and our theme of “Writing Our Story, One Student at a Time” I am grateful for the achievement and work done for our students. Teachers and staff worked hard and refined practices throughout the year. As we move into another school year we will continue to write The Dufrocq story, but also TELL it. I want us to celebrate more, support each other more, and engage each other more in the common goal we all have of student success. My vision for the coming year is that we are motivated by the fact that anything is possible! For the 2022-2023 school year we will be “Telling Our Story: Everything is Possible”. This theme keeps the purpose of putting our Dufrocq students first, being proud of what we have established as a school community, but also leads us to verbally manifest and believe the best is yet to come for us all!
Your Principal, Ariane St. Julien
